We cordially invite you to submit a paper to the upcoming fifth International Symposium on saffron biology and biotechnology (ISSBB16) will take place on November 24-26, 2016 at Agadir, Morocco. ISSBB16 is the fifth international forum for scientists and researchers around the world to discuss about an exciting and emerging interdisciplinary area on saffron.
The symposium on saffron is organised by the National Institute of Agronomic Research (INRA, Morocco) with the collaboration of International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS). The Meeting will last THREE days, providing a forum for scientific and technical exchanges. A one-day field trip will be programmed during the fourth day for the interested people.
Objective of the meeting
The main goal of ISSBB16 is to provide a multinational platform where the scientific, economic and social topics on saffron crop can be presented and discussed in a friendly environment with the aim to discuss the issues challenging saffron and to promote the active participation of researchers from all saffron producers or no producer countries as to learn from each other. Prospective presenters are encouraged to submit proposals for papers and posters/demonstrations that offer new research contributions. Presentations should be in English and should address new research findings.
Therefore, to enhance debate, the format of the meeting will be based on thematic sessions with an invited keynote lecture followed by only 3 or 4 short theatre presentations selected from the contributions submitted by the participants on the basis of their interest. After the theatre presentations, extensive time will be allocated to judicious debates in each session. The other contributions will be presented as posters which will also be integrated in the general discussions of each session
Topics covered by the symposium:
Different topics will be presented and discussed with simultaneous poster presentations in five sections as following:
Section 1. History, origin and uses
Section 2. Biology and physiology
Section 3. Genetics and biotechnology
Section 4. Production and quality (seeds and spice)
Section 5. Adding value and Market
