As part of efforts to strengthen scientific cooperation between the National Institute of Agricultural Research (INRA), the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), and The University of Queensland, a working meeting was held on Monday, April 7, 2026, at INRA headquarters in Rabat, Morocco, to discuss the preparation of a new research project focusing on conservation agriculture and soil health in Morocco.
This initiative builds on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between INRA and ACIAR in February 2026, which opened new avenues for collaboration in research, innovation, and capacity building.
The proposed project is fully aligned with the objectives of the Génération Green 2020–2030 strategy, particularly those related to the sustainability of agricultural systems, strengthening resilience to climate change, preserving natural resources, and improving the living conditions of farmers.
The project aims to contribute to the development of innovative solutions adapted to Moroccan agro-ecological conditions, with a particular focus on promoting more resilient and sustainable agricultural systems through improved management of soil health and natural resources.
The initiative could also be developed within the framework of the Africa–Australia Partnership for Climate Responsive Agriculture, thereby opening up additional opportunities for scientific cooperation, technical support, and joint research.
During the coming days, the delegation will continue its discussions with several national stakeholders involved in conservation agriculture, soil health, and agricultural innovation. These exchanges will contribute to identifying priority areas for collaboration and exploring opportunities for the development of a joint research project.
This initiative reflects the importance of an integrated and partnership-based approach, bringing together scientific research, innovation, technical expertise, and the experience of different stakeholders to support the sustainable transformation of Moroccan agriculture.
Through these collaborative efforts, INRA continues to strengthen its international scientific partnerships and contribute to the development of innovative, resilient, and sustainable solutions for Moroccan agriculture.
