INRA's strategic research areas cover:
Characterization, preservation and development of natural resources;
Improving the productivity, competitiveness and sustainability of agricultural production;
Improving the quality, value and diversification of plant and animal production;
Analysis of social demand for production systems and agricultural policies linked to regional and local development.
On an operational level, these axes are broken down into a set of complementary research programs classified into two main groups:
Regional research programs designed to better meet the needs of the various production sectors and to cover the entire national territory with its diverse agrosystems;
Thematic programs with a national scope and a horizontal connotation, serving all agrosystems and production chains.
